Studio Dancewear is owned and run by Jane Byrne — a former teacher of Ballet and Modern Theatre Dance, and Ireland’s premier online destination for dancewear, pointe shoes, and professional pointe shoe fittings.
Like many little girls, Jane started dancing at two and a half years old, and dance has been central to her life ever since — as a student, then a teacher, and later as a mum bringing her own daughter to weekly ballet classes. That daughter is now heading off to dance college, but the years of watching her grow through every stage — first shoes, first leotard, first pair of pointe shoes — are exactly what shaped Studio Dancewear into what it is today.
With over 50 years’ dance experience, Jane understands what it means to a young dancer to get that first pair of proper shoes, and what it means to a parent to know they’ve got it right.
That understanding is also why pointe shoe fitting became such a core part of the business. Jane has completed intensive pointe fitting training with Amanda Hill of BalletPro UK, studied the Juon Pointe Fitting System with Esther Juon of Juon Pointe (New Zealand), and serves as an official Ambassador for the Pointe Shoe Summit — an international event dedicated to dancer foot health and pointe readiness. Every fitting at Studio Dancewear draws on that training, ensuring dancers are properly and safely prepared for pointe work.
Today, Studio Dancewear supplies leotards, shoes, and dancewear from leading brands to dancers and dance schools across Ireland, alongside a fully professional pointe shoe fitting service — all from a shop that started with one little girl’s love of dance, and a mum who never stopped learning how to support her.
